"ALL clear appointment after cataract"

About: Solihull Hospital / Ophthalmology

Having had cataract surgery 5 weeks ago I was expecting a wait for my final appointment having rung and being told there was a backlog due to staff sickness, however I only waited one more week after getting a phone call on Thursday at 3pm asking if I could attend an appointment at 6 that day , which of course I did ! I think it just goes to show how wonderful the NHS and all its staff are , they were doing a late clinic to clear the backlog.

I would like to thank all the staff at Solihull hospital for their care, my whole experience was wonderful from beginning to end, even as I waited in reception for my son to collect me I noted staff assisting people to get taxis etc and the staff were actually on their way out !

Response from Marie Helebert, Patient Services Officer, Patient Services, Heart of England Foundation Trust

Dear Anonymous

Thank you so much for your kind comments regarding your recent patient experience at Solihull Hospital's Ophthalmology Department. I'm so pleased to read that you found the team had gone above and beyond in holding late clinics to clear the unavoidable backlog that had been created by staff sickness.

I will be delighted to ensure that The Ophthalmology Matron and Management Team are made aware of your post so that they can ensure it is communicated to all of the staff. Feedback such as yours gives our colleagues a great boost as they work very hard to provide a positive patient experience.

I hope my actions are acceptable and I do hope that you are continuing to recover from your procedure.

Kindest regards

Marie Helebert
