"Taken aback by lack of caring attitude"

About: University Hospital Wishaw / Emergency Department

(as the patient),

After being advised by our local pharmacist, I went to A & E, minor injury clinic with my mum. I had twisted my knee when getting out the car and was in a lot of pain. I was seen quite quickly, although the person who saw me didn't have a very caring attitude.

She asked me if when she was manipulating my knee if it was really sore, and when I replied yes, she responded by saying " do I look as if I care" then proceeded to laugh. Both my mum and myself were so taken aback by this attitude, that we were both speechless.

I have been in considerable pain since I was seen by this woman.

She does not have in my eyes a very caring nature and shouldn't be in the job if in her words "do I look as if I care" is her attitude.

Dear Bella- xo,

I was sorry to read your feedback on patient opinion based on your experience within the ED.

These are not the standards that we would expect and I would be grateful if you could provide me with further details so that this can be investigated.

Could you please call Yvonne Ross, Patient Affairs Manager on 01698 366558 with further details so that I can provide you with a targeted response.

I hope your knee is not as painful and you are making progress.

Best wishes

Andy
