Your amazing team saved my son's life this week when he suffered a near fatal anaphylaxis to peanuts. He was diagnosed many years ago and we have lived with this hanging over us for all this time.
Unfortunately it is now obvious his allergy has progressed and it was confirmed a trace amount can kill him. I was shocked and distressed to find whilst we were staying with you that ALL of your vending machines contained peanut products and actual nuts!
Staff consistently offered food (very kind) that was not nut trace free and the catering staff struggled to find him food that was suitable. All of the breakfast cereals were unsuitable. Every "patient" sandwich said "may contain traces of nuts".
How can this not have been risk assessed by the Trust? How can Snickers bars be available on the children's ward? This has to change and immediately.
Your staff are simply wonderful and I of course raised this with them but this lack of duty of care by the Trust is unforgiveable and could result in fatalities. I have raised this issue before and nothing has been done.
"Every patient sandwich could contain nuts!"
