What I liked
I was a patient in the fracture clinic after falling and breaking my wrist during the bad winter. The nurses in the plaster room were extremely gentle when bandaging and plastering my wrist and offered full advice when asked. They seemed happy to help and laughed and joked with me even though they were clearly very busy and had many patients to see.
What could be improved
When I entered the x-ray department there was no one on the desk or in the staff area behind it. It took 25 minutes from calling the phone provided for patients to call (to alert of people waiting) for someone to turn up. After this the wait to be x-rayed was 20 minutes even though there was only myself and one other patient in the waiting area. However, the actual x-ray process was quick and surprisingly not as painful as I had anticipated.
Anything else?
Overall I am very impressed with the fracture clinic and plaster room and the way they dealt with a very large number of patients. The follow up appointment was just as pleasing and I would like to thank the staff for their dedicated work!
