"Knee surgery"

About: Queen Marys Hospital (Sidcup)

I had day surgery at Queen Mary's Hospital on 29.09.16 and found Mottingham ward staff to be organised, friendly and professional. I was seen by the nurse, for prepartion immediately upon arrival and didn't have to wait at all. Information and instructions were clearly provided by nurse and surgeon. After the surgery I woke up feeling cold, had a sore throat from the general anaesthetic and felt a little emotional. The nurse who looked after me in recovery, following my surgery was amazing. They were very kind and caring and I felt safe. The nurse provided warm blankets, water and explained what they were doing in terms of the monitoring and care process. I didn't have a long wait, after the surgery to see the surgeon, who explained information using images of my knee, which was helpful. The staff in Avery Hill ward were efficient and provided an excellent level of care in my view. They were cheerful and friendly. I had a follow up support phone call from the hospital the next day and I found this helpful to go over some of the instructions. I found the service excellent and the whole experience was very different to previous admissions in other hospitals.
