I had to attend the gynaecology department and had made it clear that I didn't want to see a male doctor. My own gp had said that wouldn't be a problem and I wouldn't be treated any different whatever my wishes. I was sent an appointment for a male doctor and when I phoned the gynaecology dept I was not spoken to very nicely or with any empathy or understanding and was told that I would need to see the person who specialises in the problems I had. I was made to feel bad for even asking to see a female. My own gp practice contacted them regarding this and were told I would be put on lady doctors waiting list. Next thing I receive another appointment for another male doctor and yet again when contacting gynaecology was not treated great and told I would see the specialist nurse. I understand there is a shortage of female gynaecologists and know staff work hard but felt that initially I was not listened to.
Since attending apt have been treated wonderful
"Not very accommodating"
