"Great care but GP missed symptoms"

About: NHS Highland (Health) Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

I went to my own GP in mid-September, C/O Right sided lower abdo pain, which I had had for a few days & was getting increasingly worse.

GP very quickly examined me, for about 10 secs.. Asked a few questions about my ovaries, referred me for an ovarian scan ( which I'm still waiting for). Got nurse to take a blood test.  Then let me go back to work, that day.

However the pain was becoming worse and by the following Tues, I was in acute pain in that region.

I self referred to RAH Paisley to Triage, and I have to praise each member of the nursing staff, from the young doctor & triage nurse. To each and every nursing staff who cared for me & saw straight away that I had Acute Appendicitis.

I wish to thank ALL the staff on Ward 24 and Ward 26 RAH Paisley, the surgeon and anyone else who I've missed.

The NHS gets a bad rap, sometimes.

But I have nothing but praise for these hard working people, who deserve our admiration & gratitude.

I'm recouperating now, but it leaves me with the thought, that an experienced GP totally missed, my symptoms, and they could have been life threatening.

I am just lucky, I guess
