Arrived at the eye clinic with a referral letter from optician.
Gave in the letter and told to wait.
Two and a half hours later, asked what was happening with my case.
Told I should have been triaged and now wait would be another 4 hours.
This was late and I would not have been able to get home so came back the next day.
The inconvenience is not the biggest issue.
Giving in a referral letter from another professional and then not being triaged is unacceptable. I believed the referral letter had acted as some kind of triage and that I was in a queue to see a doctor.
Given that is not true, the department failed in its duty of care.
Surely the first principle on which emergency treatment is founded is triage.
A complaint has been made and ignored.
