On Wednesday 21st September I had my first cataract operation at Newark Hospital on Minster Day Care unit. The staff were all really professional, reassuring and friendly answering any questions. The Consultant was fabulous and all through the operation they were explaining everything that they were doing and was really reassuring too. Staff in theatre and recovery completed a great team to make my first experience at Newark a positive experience. I told the person who made the tea that they had scored 10/10 and a gold star too!
Small is beautiful and Newark hospital is a gem that I hope not only stays for local people but can expand in the future. People feel lost in really big hospitals. I know Minster Ward won an award for its care and I'm not surprised. Staff were cheerful and smiling and I could see from the repartee between them that they have strong connections. Patients benefit when they are surrounded by happy staff. Excuse the pun, but I am looking forward to returning for my next cataract operation. Warm regards Chris Redfern
