"cool comfort on a hot day"

About: Stoke Mandeville Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

It was a very hot day in September in Stoke Mandeville. In spite of a large fan in the corner those of us sitting in Eye Casualty were feeling the heat. Luckily. more than once during our waiting time a very kind lady came with a tray of tissues which she had soaked in iced water; we patients were invited to take a cold wet tissue each to dab on our foreheads, necks etc. Deliciously refreshing! How thoughtful of her. I had a little water spray and a small fan in my bag which I used now and then. But those iced-water tissues were more effective and very welcome.

Dear Jay B C

Thank you for taking the time to post your lovey words of thanks for the kind lady who supplied you with iced tissues while you waited in the heat in the eye casualty department at Stoke Mandeville Hospital. I am pleased the thought was of comfort to the waiting patients.

I will ensure your kind words are passed on to the department for the attention of their staff member.
