"Post Natal Mental Health Services"

After the birth of my daughter I was diagnosed with PND witin a month. I desperately wanted help but was told it would be a 12 month wait for counselling after an assessment by the Mental Health unit, I felt so let down. My daughter was 7 weeks at the time. Having mental health issues with a young baby, I was very scared and knew I couldn't wait a year.

After a series of events I paid to see a clinical pyschologist in another county when my daughter was 7 months as things had got alot worse. If I had lived in this county, I would have got an urgent referral for counselling without a 12 month wait. I also wouldnt have suffered for 7 months. It made me so angry.

Thanks to my private counsellor contacting colleagues in my county, she managed to get me that urgent referral!

I'm now recovered but I would still be waiting for counselling under my county even now.

I do not want any more vulnerable mothers to suffer like I did. Within reason they should be fast tracked
