"I got 'me' back"

About: Six Degrees Social Enterprise (CIC)

(as a service user),

When I went to the Doctors feeling angry, unhappy, confused and anxious (I felt as though I had lost 'me') my GP suggested to try Talking Therapy. I had never heard of this, but after talking to my husband about what was happening in my mind and how it was affecting the people that I love, I called Six Degrees.

I felt a little scared when I went for my first appointment, thinking that I wouldn't know what to say. However, my therapist put me at ease. I found that I could explain the mess my head was in, how my mind was stuck in a vicious circle which I couldn't unravel without embarrassment. Slowly, week after week, me and my therapist worked together on my fear, anger, confusion, anxiety and negative thoughts. With my therapists help, sensitive manner and practical information, I could begin to unravel all of the feelings that had overloaded my brain.

My therapist taught me how to manage my thoughts (not easy but it works) and look at things differently, to question my thoughts and bring about a change in my thinking. By my sixth session, it was as if a big weight had been lifted from me. I could deal with my fears and worries more easily and by taking a little time to think and put things into perspective. I could deal with the bigger issues in my life. I got 'me' back! I can't thank my therapist or Six Degrees enough!

I would recommend this service to anyone who needs help. Big thanks!
