About: Frimley Park Hospital (Frimley)

(as the patient),

What I liked

The staff were very helpful and did the best they could to help my older brother when he was incredibly unwell.

What could be improved

*The A&E department is understaffed, unless your condition is deemed to be life threatening you may have to wait many many hours to be seen. As was the case for me and members of my family. My younger brother broke his arm once and had to wait over 8 hours to be seen, it turned out that they had forgotten he was even there.

*The cleanliness and hygiene of the hospital could be greatly improved, thus preventing any unnecessary complications to patient's health. My brother was treated at this hospital for many months and caught the hospital bug, which he subsequently died from.

*From personal experiences and in my opinion the response of the mental health/ crisis team is very slow. Patients at the hospital would benefit from a team that is permanently based there, rather than making patients wait several hours or all night to be seen by nurses from Guildford. Patients at risk to themselves should be more thoroughly assessed and listened to. Patients should be given the choice/ be allowed the space and time to recover from episodes of terrible mental health rather than being all too eagerly sent home and left in the hands of the CMHT.

Anything else?

In my mother's day, when she was a nurse, it was a rule that nurses were not allowed to wear their uniforms outside of the hospital grounds, but I frequently see nurses in their uniforms going to and from work. Doesn't this go against the cleanliness & hygiene standards of the hospital?
