I read through these forums before I had an operation booked in for a broken ankle 2 weeks ago. After sifting through the complaints and abuse that Wexham had received, I certainly wasn't looking forward to the experience. 3 weeks ago I broke my ankle playing tennis; I went to Heatherwood where they had confirmed the break and booked me in for an operation at Wexham on the Friday. Whilst at Heatherwood Minor Injuries, I waited for 2 hours to be seen by a nurse, which in all honesty is nothing to complain about considering the amount of people who were waiting to be seen, and how well the staff had coped. I can't believe the amount of abuse these nurses have to take from patients who are unhappy about waiting for 2-3 hours, just to be seen about a minor injury - do you really think it's the nurses fault, they just do their best with the resources they are given.

5 days later on the Friday, I'm at Wexham Hospital waiting for an operation. The day didn't start off great, as the head nurse wasn't expecting me (she wasn't passed on any paperwork), so that wasn't the most confident-inspiring of starts. She was very pleasant and chased the paperwork with the relevant other wards, and booked me in for the op first thing 9am. After having been seen by the surgeon to explain the operation, I was told I had to wait until 1pm instead, due to another emergency case. There are many people on here who would probably moan about this, but I don't see why they'd complain.

Operation all went well and I was taken to the ward. The 2 days I was there, every nurse was friendly, polite, and were able to have a laugh/joke, rather than being too serious and stressed.

This was the first time I have ever had an operation at the age of 23, although I wasn't looking forward to it, I couldn't have asked for better treatment by the hospital. People are very quick to come on forums like this to criticise, but not enough people come on to say they've had a good experience.
