"All of the team looking after me were excellent"

About: Crawley Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

Great unit for day surgery. Was greeted on arrival by the nurse who who would be looking after me during my stay. All of the team looking after me were excellent and kept me fully informed of what was happening and why. I had a brilliant surgeon who had involved me in decision making regards how my surgery could be done. The unit was very clean and staff had genuine care and treated you as an individual and not a number. It was clear they worked well together as a team.

It did feel a little rushed once back on the ward, as after refreshments was dressed and placed in day room for collection. After a general anaesthetic it felt quite quick.

Response from Jamie Moore, Divisional Chief Nurse for Surgery, Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust

Dear Daisy01, thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the surgical short stay unit at Crawley Hospital. I am pleased that it was generally positive and hope you are recovering well.

I will review our discharge processes with the nursing team noting that this felt a hurried experience for you. Thank you for highhlighting this to us.

Kind regards

Jamie Moore

I'd like to reiterate that all the medical staff were excellent. I felt the rush felt at discharge was more to do with following process and timescales than any fault of the nursing staff. They truly gave very good care while I was there.
