"Terrible parking facilities"
Posted by C**************y
I was referred to the pain clinic due to neck problems - I have no problem with attending the centre although I live outside the area (live nearer Frimley than Aldershot). I just hate having to attend due to the totally inadequate parking facilities. I ended up with a parking fine earlier this year as I had tried to park for over 30mins and ended up in the near-empty staff parking area so that I wouldn't be late for my appointment (I was still recovering from having a full knee replacement so couldn't walk too fast). The traffic was back down the hill outside the centre as I got to the front entrance. I had to attend the clinic again earlier this month but I had to leave myself over an hour extra time to allow time to try a parking space. Thankfully, it only took me 10mins this time to find a space so I was over 30mins early for my appointment.
WHY isn't the whole car park given over to patients instead of having one level sealed off for staff (that appeared less than half full) if there's plenty of parking for staff at the end of entrance road? With more services being out-sourced to the clinic from the main hospital, more facilities need to be made available for patients to actually use the centre.
I was told by an Aldershot local, when they complained about the lack of parking, they were told to park in the main car parks in town and walk to the centre! How does that work for disabled or those like myself recovering from surgery who can't walk that far?
A lot is made about people not turning up to appointments or arriving late having a knock-on effect costing the NHS money - this car park would certainly cause this so do something about it!
