"Humiliated and not worthy"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

Visited the a and e department tonight after 8 days of severe pain in my ankle following a trauma. Explained had seen at johnson hosp a week before but again was given 3 minutes of time and told by a nurse who purely looked at my ankle that it was sprained ligaments and tissue damage. Explained this to a and e reception. And that a week later I am still struggling to weight bare and the pain is so much worse. However on approaching the a and e window, the first words I heard were "4 and half hour wait"! (Hi, how can we help would have sufficed). I then explained the above to be responded to with "well 4 and half hours so.." to then a member of staff to say "we're not trying to put u off but if u can weight bare (pretty sure I had just stated I am struggling to) then we won't xray you as it's not broken!" I explained my mother in law walked around for 2 weeks with broken foot and she replied "Yeh we'll it's a 4 and half hour wait and we won't xray because of "radiation" so what do u want to do?". I have never felt so awkward, worth less of time, and humiliated. I walked out in tears unknowing of what to do. Why was I any less important than the others in the waiting room? I've worked since the day I left school, constantly contributed to the system yet between 2 hospitals I have been worth all of 3 minutes time from a nurse. I have always defended pilgrim hospital as through the flaws u hear they had never done me wrong until tonight when I was generally in pain and requiring assistance. I had waited a week to see if it would settle, surely that tells them I'm not just there to abuse the system but I didn't even get that far did I!
