"Unclean, unorganized and understaffed"

About: Friarage Hospital Site / Accident and emergency

Sadly our experience of the A&E dept is very poor indeed. The understaffing is clearly not the fault of working staff there, but there appears to be a complete lack of organization for those who are. The standard of cleanliness in the waiting area is appalling- we've seen cleaner public toilets. There was also a distinct lack of compassion or basic understanding of my wife's condition which was clearly genuine. There seemed to be more attention given to apparent drunks and druggies who'd turned in after an afternoon session. My advice is don't go there unless you're desperate and on deaths door.

Please contact me on the number below to discuss taking these issues further through the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) or the formal complaints route, otherwise please be assured that Senior Managers for the relevant area will be briefed on your comments and the members of staff concerned will be made aware of the feedback received from you.

Thank you again for your comments, and please accept my apologies that the care and treatment provided to your wife recently at the Friarage Hospital, and the environment in the A&E Department did not meet your expectations.
