"Breast reduction surgery"

My daughter went in to have breast reduction surgery due to two slipped discs in her spine & being a 36J cup which added extra weight to her spine on Wednesday 14th September 2016, self pay. She had the pre-op assessment the week before. She went in on the day, got marked up for the op & then the anaesthetist came in to ask a few pre-op questions. They were obnoxious & rude from the minute they walked into the room, didn't fen look at my daughters notes & refused to do the op so my daughter was left crying her eyes out through no fault of her own & left to make her own way home with no apology from the senior staff (the nurses were very good & fuming over the behaviour of this anaesthetist towards a self funding patient). NOT recommended for private patients & God help you if you are NHS, you have no chance. My daughter is so traumatised by the experience she is not even entertaining the thought of breast reduction surgery now, even though the excess weight removed from her surgery would relieve the pressure on her spine, leaving her able to do some exercise to work off her excess weight. Why do these idiots think breast reduction surgery is cosmetic? People pay a small fortune to have their breasts enhanced, they don't pay a small fortune to have them reduced unless there is a good reason. A formal complaint is being raised.

Response from Pinehill Hospital

We are sorry you are upset by the treatment your daughter received at Pinehill. I am investigating this incident and met your daughter yesterday evening. We try hard not to cancel patients on the day and only do so for clinical reasons. We have high standards of patient safety here at Pinehill and do not put our patients at risk unnecessarily. It was unfortunate that relevant medical information was not established at the pre -operative assessment. This meant that the anaesthetist only had the information just prior to surgery and that meant it would not have been safe to proceed on this occasion. We will of course complete the care for your daughter when she is well enough to proceed. Our senior sister did visit your daughter at the time and having spoken to her yesterday I know she is grateful for the support of our nursing staff. If you would like to contact me I would be pleased to discuss any concerns you have. We have completed may such procedures at Pinehill that have been praised by many of our patients.
