I have to agree with others on here that those leaving negative reviews were likely people who expected a 5* star hotel, or are in denial about their own issues. I was treated for alcoholism here and can say undoubtedly that it has changed my life. If you are looking for a spa and a massage, it's not the place - while the meals and rooms are absolutely fine (all ensuite, often including baths, mostly double beds, etc.), it's a psychiatric hospital, not a health resort. I believe that what makes it worth the cost is the level of care provided, particularly in the quality of the therapy, which was above and beyond any of the countless options I had tried elsewhere, prior to being admitted as an inpatient. Not only was I encouraged to look at my own issues unflinchingly with consistent support, I was also given invaluable practical coping mechanisms for dealing with life in recovery once leaving the hospital. The support also continues once you reach the end of addiction inpatient programme - there is a once a week aftercare programme that you may attend for as long as you like. I honestly believe that one's opinion on the Priory differs due to one's own willingness to receive help. If you feel you are ready to get help and are fortunate enough to be able to come to the Priory, then do it - I can't recommend it highly enough.
