"18 week Pathway - is it a myth at Royal Berks Hospital?"

About: Berkshire West PCT Royal Berkshire Hospital

(as the patient),

Hi all,

I was referred to see a gynecologist at RBH hospital back in August 2009. His nurse agreed that I needed a repair operation however referred me to see a bowel surgeon as my symptoms suggested there may be a problem there. Also said to me that they would put me on the list for the initial operation which would be cancelled and a joint procedure carried out in the New Year if needed. I saw the bowel surgeon registrar December 1st who agreed that this was likely, cancelled my original op and referred me for more tests. An appointment for this further investigation arrived for, believe it or not, February and I did not get a follow up appointment until April. I contacted my local MP who had this moved forward to the last day of March but quite frankly in my opinion this was about as much use as a chocolate teapot and I felt failed to answer any of the questions I put to him. I have now been passed back to the original surgeon. I have now been told I probably won’t have my op until mid-end June! 46-48 weeks that is nearly a year, wow what a joke.
