What I liked
Out of hours GP service to ward was swift and efficient. The room on ward 9A was exceptionally good (great bed), providing privacy and quiet but also never a feeling of being isolated. Being able to watch TV when I wanted to without disturbing anyone else was also a good way to relax.
The nursing team got the amount of contact with me exactly right, allowing me rest to recover but not leaving me for too long without checking if I was fine.
The overnight team was exceptional. I needed to call them for pain relief and also to change my bed linen, both was done with great care and concern and on both occasions paired with a very welcome cup of tea at 4 in the morning.
What could be improved
Discharge was a bit haphazard as the nurse did not seem to know what was being recommended by the doctor even though it was on the notes. Medicines weren't available as I left so my husband had to return later to collect them
Anything else?
The food was quite appealing. The home-made soups were delicious and the light bites of sandwiches, pasties etc. tempted me more than cooked plates. Breakkfast could have been a bit better, fresh fruit or yogurt would have been nice. Just toast and tea felt a bit too little after a long night.
