"The staff on ward 11 were fantastic ..."

About: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (Gateshead)

(as a relative),

What I liked

The staff on ward 11 were fantastic and very fast when my husband took ill on the ward a few days after being admitted and quickly transferred him to the critical care unit where he was for a few days before being trransferred to the Freeman.

What could be improved

It took three seperate visits to A&E to actually get my husband admitted to the hospital. I don't think the doctors believed how ill he was or how much blood he had lost until he was actually admitted and they saw it first hand.

Anything else?

I would not hesitate to use this hospital again.

I’d like to thank you for taking time to provide feedback on your recent visit to the hospital with your husband and for recommending the hospital to others.

It is always of great encouragement to our staff to receive positive feedback on the services they provide. Your comments are very much appreciated and I will ensure these are passed onto the team.

I am sorry to hear that you have some concerns regarding the process of admission in your husband’s case. In order for us to investigate these sorts of issues we encourage patients and their families to raise their concerns with us directly. If you would like to do this please contact our Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) on 0800 953 0667.

Thank you again for your positive comments.

Ian Renwick.

Chief Executive of Gateshead Health NHS Foundation Trust.
