My wife came into A&E in Dewsbury a week last Sunday with severe back pain. She was admitted by Ambulance and the two ambulance medical staff where superb with her. On arrival at the A&E she was eventually seen by a Registrar in A&E and after examination was told that she had an inflamed disc / slipped disc. She was prescribed muscle relaxants and pain relief tablets, told to go home and have complete bed rest for at least a week. We were not offered any form of transport in order to get my wife home. Physically getting in the Ambulance the medics used gas and air and tried to control the pain using Morpheme, but this had no impact. By Wednesday last week the pain was no better and the pain relief administered by the Registrar was not resolving the pain.
We contacted our GP and she advised that laying down was probably the worse you could do, we have also been advised by Physiotherapy that she needs to move about. Conflicting advice!!
