"Excellent care from the start"

About: Macclesfield District General Hospital / Accident and emergency

I attended A&E after my son had a football related accident and badly damaged his ankle. The department was very busy but was efficiently run. We were triaged after about 45 minutes and it was clear on examination the problem was more serious than we had thought. He was immediately moved into a cubicle followed by an X-ray and was told he would be being admitted after the orthopaedic doctor had been to see him. There was a delay of a few hours as he was very busy with other injuries. However both the orthopaedic doctor and their registrar were excellent. After a small procedure followed by a plaster cast and further X-ray he was taken to ward 5. The next day he had an operation. The staff in A&E and on Ward 5 were all very professional and approachable.

Please accept our sincere thanks for taking the time to comment on your experiences while your son was being cared for in A & E and on ward 5. It's great to hear you were so pleased with the service provided. We will pass your comments on to the departments concerned and I am sure your feedback will be very well received by our staff.

Thank you once again.
