""Hello, my name is.....""

About: Bedford Hospital South Wing

We had a wonderful experience with the NHS at it's best when my husband was recently admitted to Bedford Hospital.

Beginning with the Ambulance staff and the staff in A&E everyone was professional and kind using the,---- " Hello, My name is ...." address. The DNR question was discussed at all times with sympathy and tact.

My husband was admitted to Shuttleworth Ward where the treatment was priceless.

Although my husband was very ill and had Alzheimer's he understood many things and staffl told him everything they were doing. At one point a doctor from Intensive Care spoke to us to ensure that we understood there were treatments which could be used to try to revive my husband.

It was all done with tact and sympathy. The treatment my husband and we, his family received at a sad time was text book perfect so much so that our memories of his dying and death are happy ones.

I do thank all the staff who were with us at this time and wish them happy and successful careers in the NHS.
