"Ambulance admittance via A & E"

I recently fell ill and was admitted via ambulance to A&E late at night.

The ambulance crew were fantastic and the service and care I received in A&E was very good. Had my care stopped here it would have been a 5* review.

Despite a lack of a concrete diagnosis, tests were done, I was regularly checked on and kept informed about the possible causes. The staff ensured I was comfortable and despite the department being busy my care was excellent.

I was then sent to observation the following day awaiting a bed, despite over a 5 hour wait staff were again excellent and kept me informed and checked on.

Once a bed was found was when things fell apart, no continuity of care regarding medication/treatment, moved twice within a short period of time so was exhausted and stressed. Communication sadly lacking and meals and medication missed. Eventually settled into another ward where I slept overnight and saw the Dr on morning rounds. Little communication of situation but as was much improved with treatment was happy to go home. Discharge letter had no mention of initial admittance symptoms which I queeried and was eventually amended slightly instead concentrating on secondary issues. Medications sent which I already had from pharmacy and waited from morning rounds to mid afternoon to get them thus blocking a bed unnecessarily.

All in all post A&E I felt no one knew fully what they were doing/treating and I received conflicting advice and information, not confidence inspiring!
