About: The Royal Glamorgan Hospital / Gynaecology

(as a relative),

My mother was told 4 years ago that she had a prolapse and would, eventually have an hysterectomy. The amount of times we've had appointments only to be told that there will have to be more blood tests, outpatients appointments for nothing in particular! !

November 2015 she was told that she was on the surgery list but in February was called again for an outpatients department - because the Dr didn't take bloods in November - and was told that the surgery would be in July. She had a letter for another outpatients appointment for August 2016, so off we went only to be greeted with "how are you after the operation? " Totally confused as no operation had taken place.

My mother now has been through the urology department for the same scans that she had 2 years ago so we've got to wait again for these results although they are not in any relation to the hysterectomy. What a complete waste of time and resources.

When I eventually spoke to the secretary (as there is never any answer at any time of the day) instead of her being on the waiting list for September, as we were told by the surgeon, I was informed that there would be another delay and it probably wouldn't be until the end of October.

My mother is in her seventies, worked all her life - still working- and is feeling completely let down by the attitude of "the caring profession". Who knows, she may get the op this side of Christmas but she's not holding her breath......
