You have been superb, Colchester General Hospital!
I live in Chelmsford and came to Colchester after I was given a very gloomy prognosis at Broomfield Hospital.
I asked for a second opinion and was referred to a consultant colorectal and laparoscopic surgeon at your hospital.
The whole team, which is made up of many dedicated people, have been wonderful.
I have had something of a roller coaster ride as it was possible that my tumour had completely disappeared, following successful radiotherapy from the excellent team at your Hospital.
My surgeon, however, decided that it would be in my best long term interest to have an operation.
Beforehand I was well prepared with plenty of information about what to eat and the consequences of the procedure.
My operation on 1 August was, I am told, a success.
After I’d come round in the High Dependency Unit, I spent a week on Mersea Ward where I was very well looked after.
I was pleased to be visited by the Hospital Chaplain and a member of their team.
There are many people that I want to thank for my treatment at Colchester, which will continue for a few more months.
Thank you all so much.
I can unreservedly recommend Colchester General Hospital to anyone with bowel cancer.
It is truly a Centre of Excellence!
