"night staff noisy"

About: Leighton Hospital

Brilliant care of my relatives, however, the night staff shouted or talked loudly, especially by the photo copier outside the room, and wore loud clip clopping shoes (which would never have been allowed in the 70s nursing days - common sense really). The noise made her stress to come home as she had no sleep for days and the ward ran out of her 'in hospital prescribed' sleeping meds, which, for a cancer patient with an infection was not the best option.

We do appreciate patients and relatives giving us feedback on their stay in hospital and are pleased that your relative had such excellent care.

We do have a policy for night-time and are concerned that your relative was disturbed by excess noise, and will discuss this at our regular meetings with ward staff to highlight this concern.

We apologise that we did not have the appropriate prescribed sleeping medication and for the distress this may have caused. We will remind staff to ensure that all patients medication are prescribed and available during their hospital stay.

Many thanks
