I gave birth at NMH 26th of July and had a fantastic care throughout. To compare how it was 5 years ago when my first one was born, now is a huge improvement. My first baby was born very quick and I had notice in my pregnancy book about it, that second delivery may be even quicker. When I started having contractions every 12-15 minutes I came to triage. I was examined and found to be only 1cm dilated. It was early morning , just before shift change and the midwife gave me paracetamol, send me home and told to come back when contractions will be closer. I suggest them that it may change quick because it is the second baby. They said that it is a very early stage and I can not stay in hospital. That was the only thing which dissapointed me. I think this is the common issue in this hospital that women with early contractions are send home rather than stay in hospital which is in my opinion not good and even safe. I come back home , took a bath to cope with pain which was getting stronger and stronger. After not even 2 hours I came back to triage again with contractions every 2 minutes. It was enormous pain and I could feel that baby can born any minute. When I arrived for my good luck there were new day shift with lovely midwifes. I got checked and find out fully dilated. Very quickly I was accompanied to the birth centre where they settled me into brand new room with pool. My midwifes were amazing, very attentive, supportive, offering advice and also calm and kind. You could feel that they loved their job. I gave birth in the pool just 30 minutes after. Throughout my labour and after I was given excellent care. My midwifes also help me with brestfeeding. They were very patient with me and gave me some tips how to do it. The facilities at the hospital really are excellent too. I had good experience much better than 5 years ago. I recommend giving birth in NM.
