"Nightingale Ward team were amazing"

About: Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust - City Campus / Infectious diseases

My partner was transferred to the Infectious Care team on the Nightingale Ward on Friday evening after having spent 10 nights at the QMC with a no known cause illness.

I was deeply concerned as this was a bank holiday weekend and my partner had spent a frustrating 10 days in hospital already and was feeling no better, but the whole medical and nursing team were amazing and all available to reassure, comfort and provide the necessary care treatment support and most importantly diagnosis. The compassion shown by the team and the time they also dedicated to me & his family was amazing.

They all went far beyond their care of duty with the consultant staying until after 10pm on the Saturday evening and coming in early on the Sunday morning to check on my partner in critical care - as did the whole team demonstrating what compassion and dedication they all have.

Everyone I have met here from the porters to the anesthetist, surgeons, radiologist, critical care team and now the team on Winifred 2 ward have been amazingly helpful, caring and supportive. Whilst my partner is still here and in a critical condition I feel very reassured by the care and support so far.

Thanks so much for writing and sharing this, especially at this time when your partner is still so unwell. We are very much thinking of you and your family. I’m so pleased to hear how the teams on Nightingale Ward and Winifred 2 (and our wider support staff and multi-disciplinary teams) have been able to make a difference to you and to your partner during such a difficult time for you both, and that you both feel reassured in the care and support he is receiving. I’ve shared your superb feedback with both teams and they join me in sending our very best wishes to you, your partner and your family.
