I contacted this service for a self-referral after having suffered from depression for 25+ years. I have always found visiting the GP unhelpful as he has always just prescribed anti-depressants and has never offered counselling / therapy services. I have not been in a position to pay for therapy so this service was exactly what I have been waiting for for years. After self-referral, there was quite a bit of bureaucracy to wade through - telephone consultations and letters sent in error and a long waiting time. However I finally received face-to-face therapy and I found this to be fantastically useful. My therapist was very skilled and was happy to be led by me to meet my personal needs. The fact that the sessions are not open-ended but goal-orientated was very useful but additionally it was made clear that this was flexible. I think for somebody who was motivated to change, determined to proactively receive help and open-minded to move forward, this service was fantastic. Patience with the bureaucracy and personal determination is the key to getting the most from this service. I want to say a huge thank you to iTalk for being there. A really worthwhile service.
"Fantastic free service - very helpful"
