Whilst my admission to Urology and Surgical Out-Patients was fairly swift, arrival at 7am followed by a surgical procedure at approx 10.45am. I would imagine that those having to wait longer were less satisfied. The staff on the ward were very considerate however and I observed them checking the running order of surgery and verifying that the later admissions could be given a drink (particularly in the case of the elderly patients). All staff members I came into contact with were pleasant and helpful. It transpired that after my procedure I had to be admitted and whilst there was some confusion initially as to where I would go, once agreed by the two departments involved,
I was moved quickly. All my belongings were kept safely and returned to the ward once requested. The balance of care and compassion amongst the nursing staff I came into contact with was exemplary. I observed how busy the staff were and even though under staffed for one shift they never made me feel rushed or that they didn't have time to respond to my queries. As I was feelng vulnerable and uncertain about my recovery this mattered to me very much. Thank you.
