"Trying to find out where my friend is"

About: Southmead Hospital / accident & emergency

(as a friend),

Hello, I received news that my friend has had a motorbike accident in the Lawrence Weston/Avonmouth area. I have been trying to speak to someone in A&E to find out if he has been admitted so I can tell his family where he is and see if I can come and visit. The southmead A&E number just rings and rings and rings and then cuts me off. It has been two hours now and I have not been able to speak to anyone.

Dear winiewoo - regrettably data protection would usually prevent information about a patient from being released to anyone other than next of kin. Do you have the details of your friend's family who may be able to assist you? If not if you can email the team here at complaints@nbt.nhs.uk and we will see if there is anything further we can do to assist.

Kind regards
