"What an improvement since January!"

My first appointment with Neuro (when I only saw a registrar) was in January, which I came away feeling more frustrated and upset than anything. My return appointment was supposed to be in May, but was delayed by 4 months due to 5 out of the department leaving the trust (including my original appointed Neuro, whom I never actually met anyhow). So, I was a little apprehensive for this appointment. I'm delighted to say that my new Neuro was wonderful, they listened and conversed with me. Made me feel a part of the decisions on the further tests needing to be taken, rather than simply demanding that they knew best! They treated me with respect and dignity (as some of my symptoms are a little embarrassing). They encouraged me to be open about any small thing that may or may not be connected to my illness, as apparently sometimes the smallest of things can help with diagnosis which we may think are nothing. I left feeling in very capable hands and I am so pleased that I'm now being treated by a Neuro I trust. Therefore, the extra 4 month wait while being allocated to a new Neuro was well worth the wait! This person has kept their humane side and deals with patients with a certain degree of empathy. That in its self is very refreshing, as I'm afraid a lot of consultants seem to lose that side of themselves. It was a pleasure to be treated by them and I now feel very secure that they'll get to the bottom of things, which when you're not feeling well goes a really long way in making you feel a lot better! Thank you!
