I recently attended a planned pre-op assessment for a heart operation, however, during the general chat, a problem was identified.
With speed but without fuss I was seen by a senior doctor and then admitted to a ward for observation.
I must praise the staff for their quick thinking and attention to detail. Everyone was able to give a calm, caring approach which gave me confidence. The porter was appropriately cheerful and the emergency transfer team ensured there was as little stress as possible.
Once on the ward 38 I was treated with dignity and my concerns addressed but also my wife was very well looked after.
Each of the tests that was done was efficiently and sufficiently explained.
The whole experience gave me confidence for my coming operation.
The cleaning and housekeeping staff kept the ward spotless and my domestic needs supplied, with good humour and a pleasant manner.
The nurses were highly skilled but had not lost the personal nature of care. The doctors obviously knew their stuff and were able to explain what was happening in a way I could understand and reassured me.
This was the best place for heart treatment and my unplanned pre visit gave me confidence in the future proceedures.
My Thanks to all involved.
