Cleanliness- although the hospital was overall good when my girlfriend was on her bed there was blood on the handle at the bottom of the part which comes away which isn't good enough!! Apart from that very good. On same sex accommodation when we were in ward 10 there were several toilets which is great but a small point that when I (the father) wanted to go to the bathroom I had to go nearly all the way around to the restaurant. If there was at least one male bathroom on the maternity ward it would be helpful. When I went to the bathroom there was a younger nurse stood on their mobile to someone swearing and telling them" they should get their union to sort it" which is fine but loudly in the halls isn't an appropriate time or place to be on their mobile. When my girlfriend went for a shower there was a member of the team helping her and our baby which started saying how ridiculous it was that they were having to clean when they should be somewhere else etc. After a 13 hour first time experience of birth it wasn't what either of us wanted to hear.
Overall the staff and hospital were very helpful, efficient and friendly, good credit to the shift change over as well that was very professional!! Just a couple of staff doing and saying what they shouldn't have been, When they are in public they should be acting more professional.
Thanks very much for all you're help we are both at home very happy with our son who is doing great!
