"Disabled Car Parking"

About: Leicester Royal Infirmary / Dermatology

We notice that for quite a some time the disabled parking bays behind the Infirmary have been roped off (where the MRI scanner was sited) This makes life even more difficult for disabled people and we wonder why these bays are not in use. Please investigate.

Dear Mrs Kennedy,

Thank you for taking the time to post your feedback.

The yellow hatched area that has been taped off, consisting of disabled bays and ambulance bays has been out of action on and off for the past two years due to the MRI scanner and because essential maintenance works are being carried out to make the MRI scanner a permanent fixture.

If and when any disabled bays are taken out of allocation on the UHL, these are always replaced where appropriate space are available. We have created 21 new disabled bays in the New Multi Storey Car Park on the bottom floor and created 13 compliant disabled bays on the visitors surface car park of the hospital.

We are also considering the design at the Balmoral Entrance with a view to reconfiguration to the roads, to improve the facilities for all users of the hospital.

We do apologies for any inconvenience caused and hope this answers your query.

Kind regards,

Donna White
