My little boy was born in Luton and Dunstable hospital and I think my experience was good if not great. As it was my first time, I wasn't sure what to expect and the midwives and nurses were very patient. Although in terms of pain relief, I had asked for an epidural if my threshold was low but I was told that since it was a Sunday, the doctor's availability was a problem. So I had to get on with my contractions till finally my waters broke. When we came to the reception, initially I was not as ready to be admitted and was given the option to go home to be comfortable but having travelled 23 odd miles.. I couldn't think of going home with the pain. Thankfully my contractions were quickly getting stronger which helped. Please consider the patient's request as there could be a good reason for it. However, apart from my ordeal, the midwives were very encouraging except for one senior member who was very demanding! Kept saying I was screaming and not pushing.. for God's sake I didn't know what was going on with me to be able to follow instructions! All in all.. we were fine. My baby came on the Sunday morning.
"Good experience"
