"Anorexia "

About: Antrim Area Hospital

(as the patient),

I recently watched "supersize vs superskinny" and in the show they were trying to help four people who sufferd with anorexia. When i was 10years old i was diagnosed with the illness myself, my weight back then was 4st 5lbs which was very underweight. my parents fought to get me help for many years before hand and nothing was ever done until i was 10 and was admitted into hospital. I was sent to a special clinic in Northern Ireland where i am from and there i was given the best help anyone could offer. At the start the NHS were not very helpful but as my parents fought more there was alot more done for me which i am greatly thankful of. As i was getting older my anorexia was getting alot worse and my weight wasnt going up atal. I was in and out of hospital constanly, people had to watch me eat my food because i had a tendancy to hide it in various places when no-one was looking. I over came my ilness when i was 16years old. I am now 19years old and currently at university studying for a degree and im a very good healthy weight for my height which is 5ft 7. If it wasnt for the love and care of my parents and doctors i wouldnt be here today and i am very greatful for that.
