"Results of MRI Scan"

About: Kettering General Hospital

In March 2016 my husband injured his knee playing tennis, after weeks of rest, ice and painkillers, eventually the GP sent him for an MRI scan which he had on 15th June. We are now up to the end of August and the results are still not back to the GP. We have been ringing each week, and he is still in a lot of pain, but without the results, the GP and the physio still have no idea what's actually wrong with it. Luckily he is now retired,as he could have not worked with the pain and inability to bend his knee if he had still been working. We were told on the scan day that the results would be back to the GP in about 3 weeks,we have now been waiting for 10 weeks. Totally unacceptable!

Thank you for your comment, I would like to apologise for the delay in responding. Unfortunately we have experienced some unexpected problems with the new system that are severely restricting the speed at which the Radiologists can work. This is leading to some long delays in issuing reports, in particular for CT and MRI scans. The Current waiting times for reports do change from week to week and can vary depending on the type of scan carried out.
