"Excellent care"

About: Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

I'm a radiographer and cancer patient and have been attending the clinic at Mount Vernon for over a year now.

The clinic is consistently over-booked so waiting times can be very long, but that is unavoidable I think at an oncology clinic.

I needed to be seen every three weeks whilst having chemotherapy so there was no way I could be told "sorry, the clinic is booked up, you'll have to come a week late"!

This is why things run late.

Having said that, I've never felt at all rushed when I do get to see the oncologists.

They've always given me as long as I need at each appointment.

The research nurses and oncology support nurses have been fantastic and each time I've had a scan, blood test or had my port flushed, I've been impressed by the standard of care.

Thank you to all the staff at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre.

Response from Mount Vernon Cancer Centre

Thanks for the feedback, which we know that the team at Mount Vernon will be delighted to read.

Part of the problem with outpatients at the cancer centre, is that the whole area used is not big enough.

We're working with the site's owners, the Hillingdon Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to gain ownership of the buildings and land used by the cancer centre so we can get many of the facilities redeveloped.

None of that, however, will happen quickly and we know that in the meantime our colleagues at the cancer centre do everything they can to ensure their patients get the support and care they deserve.

Thank you for taking the time to feedback your experiences - we know that the team will enjoy reading them.

May we wish you the very best for the future.
