"I Am Looking For Another Clinic"
Posted via NHS Choices
My main issue is that I am currently on medication that causes, what I feel to be, extreme weight gain. I have seen the dietician for what will be the final time as I have gained not lost. Their recommendation of 'ignoring the cravings' is not helpful or useful and I was generally made to feel as though I haven't been trying to maintain a healthy weight. I do battle every day with what I eat and since my tablets make me tired it is difficult to drag myself to workout. I do manage it but still I gain. I also work in a physical role for five hours a day so I'm not just sitting around. It's pretty obvious to me that this medication is the cause of so many bad side effects that I'm beginning to wonder if it's worth taking. My hands go numb, I'm so tired I spend most of my days asleep, I've gained five stone and now have a urinary problem. I also have back issues which I would attribute to having gained so much weight. So I'm giving the consultant one last chance and if they don't change the tablets I will have no choice but to go elsewhere. Also it's great to be referred to a dietician but when their advice is based on the food pyramid that I was made aware of in year three I wonder why I should bother visiting them at all. Everyone knows to drink more water and eat more fruit and vegetables. I'm sick and tired of being made to feel an idiot for something I have no control over.
