Thanks to all the staff on Bluebell ward, the general surgical team and the staff in theatres. My daughter was in the hospital for 5 days with appendicitis and was well treated and well cared for.
The nursing staff on the paediatric ward were caring and supportive, as were the nurses and anaesthetists in the pre-surgery and recovery areas. The staff who cleaned the ward were also thorough and friendly. A member of the surgical team explained the procedure carefully to myself and my daughter and had a lovely approach. We saw several paediatricians and surgeons and are especially grateful to the surgeon who ordered the scan and pushed forward with the appendectomy despite my daughter's unusual presentation.
The only issue I had was that paediatric A&E was extremely busy when we came and my daughter was left for a long time without any offer of pain relief. I appreciate you can't affect the number of patients coming in, but I feel that there could be a little more prioritization of patients and some support offered to patients while waiting.
"Thanks to the paediatric and surgical teams!"
