I stayed for a week in ward 35 recently and was very upset to find that when some of the staff were on duty, Radio Wave was playing all day and all night at the Nurse's Station. It was very difficult to shut the sound out, particularly at night, in the early hours when you are feeling ill and desperate for sleep. I felt that this was very selfish of the staff involved. I also did not feel that enough attention and care was given to the dignity of the patient during such times as having a bed bath or using a bedpan. On several occasions the door was left ajar by a Health Care Assistant, leaving me feeling very vulnerable. All in all it was not a very good experience, although some of the staff were very kind and caring.
