I was advised to go to A&E by The Royal Marsden as I am on chemotherapy for prostate cancer and had a swelling in my mouth and a high temperature.
I was received swiftly and efficiently by a receptionist who obviously knew and understood the potential seriousness of the situation.
I was given a room by myself as soon as possible, and although my bloods had to be taken in the corridor this was done in an efficient and sympathetic way.
My treatment lasted the rest of the day, and at all times I was kept fully informed and the doctors explained all that was being done.
I was discharged in the late afternoon but had to return the following day for repeat blood test.
This too was done quickly and efficiently, although again we had to nip into a room where the patient had gone out for some reason in order for the bloods to be taken.
The results were ready at the time the doctor said, and their communication with my Consultant at the Royal Marsden was impressive throughout.
I was then discharged.
I was impressed with the service, everyone presented a good front despite struggling at times with resources.
