"Happy Chappy with Ambulance and Queens Med. staff."

This is related to my first story dated,27/03/2010, which was in reference to The Barlborough Centre.

I feel that this story reinforces my previously mentioned views.

After having my hip operation at Barlborough I returned home to recover, I followed the recovery instructions to the letter and all was going well until the early hours of 24/03/2010, when for what ever reason, whilst I was asleep my body decided to turn over onto my side?, this action, I discovered later caused my new hip to partially dislocate. I was awoken by the extreme pain. Both my wife and I were already traumatised from the death of my wife's sister, 63yrs. which had occurred the evening before, ie.23/03/2010.

We were both in shock, I was in agony, eventually she rang 999, requested an Ambulance.

The Ambulance crew, a male named Derry and female, Lorraine I believe, arrived within minutes.

We briefed them the best we could, they were both extremely kind and patient.

Eventually they got me into the Ambulance and conveyed me to The QMC. Notts.

On arrival approximately 5am. I was dealt with by the night shift. Every one involved were extremely professional and again understanding as to my circumstances.

Eventually after various treatments, xrays, pain relief, verbal assurances etc. the day shift took over and it was as if nothing had changed, that is the standards were maintained.

My treatment continued and eventually the Orthopedic Doctor replaced my hip and he even took me to the x ray himself, so as to not delay me knowing the result which helped me physiologically.

I was aloud to return home the same day and advised to update Barlborough.

A bit long winded I know but my point is that if the front line staff and systems in place were allowed more freedom and discretion to do there jobs and left alone by the Bureaucrats the NHS would be fine.
