"So grateful"

About: Princess of Wales Hospital

Since my three daughters have been physically active either their Dad or I seem to have paid a visit to the POW MIU at least once a year with each of them. When my youngest tripped on the stairs and broke a toe; or when she crashed her bike and broke her collarbone; when my eldest fell skating and broke her elbow, then did it again the following year falling off her bike; when my middle one fell off a bench at church and broke her arm, while also getting follow up for the smashed thumb on her other hand 10 days before. Then there's my husband, who managed to secateur his wrist, rather than the branch he'd aimed for; and the weeks of physio he had there before and after shoulder replacement surgery at Bury. When my youngest needed an abdominal ultrasound scan for a diagnostic check she was grateful it was just a quick trip from school to the POW with a full bladder! Not having to travel into Cambridge made a huge difference; we were seen very quickly by calm, competent staff. I've been to Addenbrookes A&E; even though we were triaged in about 15 minutes we still had to wait for hours before anything happened, and the staff had so many other people to deal with. So thank you POW MIU for many years of being there.

Dear SueT

Many thanks for finding the time to share you and your family’s experience of being cared for by your local Minor Injury Unit based at the Princess of Wales Hospital in Ely.

I know my colleagues who run the Unit will be thrilled to receive your message and I’ll ask for your words to be shared with the whole team.

Best wishes
