"Nurse misdiagnosed and left eye infection..."

About: Helston Community Hospital

I visited the Minor Injuries Unit on Sunday 12 August 2016 after waking up that morning with an extremely bloodshot right eye, it looked very inflamed and half of the white of my eye had turned a nasty yellow.

As it happened spontaneously, with no cause that I was aware of, I went to the MIU at Helston.

The nurse told me it was simply a burst blood vessel and that it would clear itself.

They seemed to find it amusing that I was concerned.

Anyway, off I went.

The problem didn't go away, it got worse, I developed a headache, the eye was throbbing and itchy and watering a great deal and was sensitive to light.

I went to my surgery in Pool on Wednesday (when I could get an appointment) where the Nurse Practitioner immediately recognised that there was an eye infection and prescribed antibiotic drops.
